Beautiful Hotel and Restaurant in the heart of West Sussex

The Inglenook Hotel, Bar and Restaurant is a 16th century, Grade 2-listed, West Sussex venue with beautiful rooms to stay in. Run by the Honour family for over 45 years, we are a friendly, welcoming business that prides itself on offering quality and fine service located in the village of Nyetimber, within reach of Chichester and Goodwood.

The Inglenook has a pretty, well-planted frontage and extensive gardens at the rear. It also has a field for bigger events. People are surprised how big Inglenook and its grounds are (given our name) and they are delighted to see that the function room opens out onto the patio and garden – ideal for weddings, celebrations, parties and functions. In the winter months we have a starlit marquee to accommodate our busy seasonal Christmas schedule and very popular brilliant music tribute nights. Open to non-residents, the Inglenook has an acclaimed restaurant and facilities for conferences, functions, wedding parties and receptions. We are licensed to perform weddings and civil ceremonies

Old world charm, oak beams and the inglenook fireplaces create the cosy atmosphere that makes the Inglenook Hotel and Restaurant special. Our lounge area and small nooks are there to sit and relax in and where you can enjoy our tasty homemade bar meals and snacks. The bar has a fine selection of well-kept real ales and weekly seasonal guest ales are on offer as well as an extensive wine list and a large range of whiskies and liqueurs. We are very proud of our achievement; winning CAMRA for 3 consecutive years: 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Bar snacks and a daily Specials board is available seven days a week and are served in our light filled, air-conditioned conservatory overlooking the garden and patio. The very popular lunchtime Carvery is available every Sunday.

The delightful gardens and patio provide for al fresco dining with space for up to 70 guests on our large well-furnished patio and 30 In the log store with a smoke house and also a beautiful children’s Wendy house. There is a large, picturesque garden with pond and arbour ideal as backdrops for wedding photos at the rear of the property.

The delightful gardens provide for al fresco dining with space for up to 30 guests in our undercover area the Log Store, and 50-70 in our large well-furnished patio where there is the smoke house and also a beautiful children’s Wendy house. There is a large, picturesque garden with lily pond, dovecote and arbour providing ideal backdrops for romantic wedding photos.

The restaurant, which opens onto the garden, is open every day for lunch and dinner. There you can enjoy our à la carte menu in an intimate atmosphere. We aim to make sure that many of our dishes are created using local and seasonal produce and we specialise in local line-caught fish with all our crabs and lobsters (from Selsey) hand picked and cooked by our chefs on the premises. We also smoke our own fish and meats. You can relax and enjoy pre-dinner drinks or after dinner coffee in our cosy, recently refurbished lounge.

Our menus change frequently and seasonally, so it is very wise to come back often!

Having lived and worked here for over 45 years, we have seen the rooms grow organically with our love of antiques and fishing at the centre of our country cottage look. Guests enjoy our quirky collections and are very complementary about our bedrooms’ furniture and fittings – the four-poster in the bridal suite certainly has the ‘Wow!’ factor. Simply put, we believe that quality and comfort is essential to a guest’s stay.

Ideal for walkers and those who love nature, Pagham Harbour is a mere mile away. Bird watchers and twitchers have a field day! Then there is the Goodwood Estate to explore with the motor racing circuit, horse racing and Cass Sculpture Park all offering unique days out and all within the beautiful surroundings of the South Downs
